Scene of early morning incident in which a pedestrian was struck by vehicle at Montrose and Graham Avenues in Williamsburg. A car reportedly jumped a curb and struck a bus shelter pinning a woman, who was hospitalized with leg injuries.

A hit-and-run livery cab driver who struck a 59-year-old woman sitting at a Brooklyn bus stop was busted because he left his license plate behind, police and witnesses said. The out-of-control cab, a 2004 black Ford Crown Victoria traveling east on Montrose Ave., jumped the curb near Graham Ave. in Williamsburg about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

“It was the worst sound I’ve ever heard,” witness Curt Upton, 41, said of the victim’s screams.

The woman was taken to Elmhurst Medical Center in stable condition with leg injuries, officials said.

“She was twisted around like a pretzel,” said witness Jose Colon, 33, who works in the convenience store across the street from the bus stop.

“The bone in one leg was sticking out. Her other leg was turned all the way around.”

The driver fled the scene, but his car’s bumper and license plate fell off and remained in the middle of the street, witnesses said.

Investigators tracked the driver to his home, but didn’t find him there.

Just before 10 a.m. the 20-year-old driver turned himself in at the 90th Precinct stationhouse, police said. Charges were pending.
