Once again the combination of cars, teen driving, and speeding manages to ruin lives.
When a 17-year-old driver was speeding, lost control of his vehicle, and crashed into a concrete barrier, it was his passenger, a 16-year-old, that paid the price. The passenger was reported to be in critical condition. The are senseless and avoidable accidents.

Almost one-third of all traffic fatalities are related to excessive speed.The responsibility and inherent dangers associated with operating a motor vehicle are generally not innate, especially when it comes to teens. Society glamorizes cars. We are bombarded with advertisements showing us how fast these machines can go; zero to sixty in 1.whatever. The truth is speed kills. When you combine excessive speed with teen driving, lives are devastated.
Almost one-third of all traffic fatalities are related to excessive speed. NHTSA reports that young, inexperienced drivers, particularly 16- to 17-year-olds, are significantly over represented in fatal crashes. In fact, traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers across the United States.
Education is one way to help reduce teen motor vehicle related deaths and injuries. More needs to be done to bombard our teens with the very real and deadly dangers associated with operating a car or other vehicle. Say no to excessive speed, texting while driving, and drunk driving.
