What is a Herniated Disc?
Your spine is made up of vertebrae separated by cartilage-like discs that act as cushions between the different levels of your vertebrae. When an injury or a degenerative disease causes the disc to weaken or tear, the center of the disc can extrude beyond the boundaries of the spine and compresses spinal nerves. This can be the cause of severe pain.
What are the treatment Options?
Not all herniated disc require medical treatment and some may resolve on their own.
If treatment is required, normally, non-invasive modalities are attempted first, such as physical therapy and/or acupuncture.
When non-invasive modalities are not producing positive results, then more invasive treatment options may be attempted. These treatments can include trigger point injections, epidural injection and surgery.
Have you sustained a herniated disc in an accident?
If you have sustained a herniated disc in an accident due the fault of another person or entity, you may be entitled to money damages.
You should consult with an experienced personal injury lawyer and accident attorney to discuss your rights.
