Xarelto

Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) manufactured by Bayer and marketed by Janssen Pharmaceutica.

Xarelto is intended to treat and prevent blood clots. It is also intended to reduce the risk of stroke in patients who have atrial fibrillation.

On July 1, 2011, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved rivaroxaban for prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which may lead to pulmonary embolism (PE), in adults undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery.[3]

On November 4, 2011, the FDA approved rivaroxaban for stroke prophylaxis in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

Complications with taking Xarelto

Xarelto has been linked to uncontrolled internal bleeding, which can be fatal.

In addition, the FDA has received reports of patients taking Xarelto developing blood clots, a condition the drug is meant to prevent.

Xarelto Litigation

Litigation throughout the country has accused the manufacturers of Xarelto of failing to warn patients and doctors of the dangerous side effects, including internal bleeding, and in releasing the drug without adequate and proper testing.

It is also alleged that the product is defective because it was released without an antidote, leaving doctors with no way to stop the bleeding.

Have you suffered complications while taking Xarelto?

If you or a loved one suffered from internal bleeding, embolism, blood clot or hemorrhaging while taking Xarelto, it is important to speak to an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
